Hawkins/Brown’s original brief was set so each individual apartment would benefit from good natural light with intimate private balconies. This has been achieved by rotating each apartment at different degrees to benefit from a dual aspect outlook with plenty of natural light and ventilation. Pioneered by Hawkins/Brown and nicknamed the “The Twist” a technique which has been recognised for Outstanding Architectural Merit at the Evening Standard New Homes Awards.
About the Apartment
This well-proportioned three double bedroom apartment benefits from “cross” floor plates to achieve maximum ventilation and has an abundance of natural light. The dual aspect apartment comprises of a master bedroom with an en-suite which has direct access to a private balcony, two further well-proportioned bedrooms with easy access to a second good sized bathroom.
The property also offers an open-plan reception room with fully integrated kitchen which has direct access to a spacious intimate balcony. With a communal roof terrace and a 24-hour on site concierge the Cube is regarded as one of the most prestigious modern developments of 2015. Located in the highly desirable Canal Basin.
About the Area
Despite Old Street now having a wide spread of affluence, much of the area maintains its original tenacious inner-city edge with lots of the walls and shop fronts covered with urban graffiti which was pioneered by street artists such as Banksy and of course, for many, that grittiness is all part of the appeal – if you want a big garden and posh schools – move to Muswell Hill.
Old Street is a trendy vibrant location which has niche pop up restaurants from Korean street food at ONTHEBAB to the more established Hoxton Grill. The area is growing and now attracting designer fashion houses such as A.p.c and Versace on Redchurch Street which has been labelled the new Bond Street.
For tapas style seafood try Portside Parlour – their Prawnography pop up is very good – as are the drinks. Cay Tre is an awesome Vietnamese. Andina is excellent Peruvian cuisine. Dishoom never fails, then you have Eyre Brothers at 100 Hoxton St which I think is one of the best restaurants in the area (they also have a pop up within Callooh Callay). Not Shoreditch but well worth a look is Mac & Wild on Great Titchfield St for fresh, amazing venison, and organic Scottish game & fish.
Cube is a couple of minutes’ walk to the ‘silicone mile’ and Old Street station which has fantastic links to the City, West End and Greater London. Angel underground is also a short walk away.
