Like many buildings, streets or locations in Clerkenwell there is an interesting history behind them and important stories to tell.
About the Development.
The area around Pear Tree Street up until the 1720’s remained an Orchard with many cultivated plots, surprisingly well known for its Pear production. However as the industrial revolution took shape in the mid 1750’s it was overtaken by engravers, printers and cabinet makers, rag trade outlets, distillers, brewery and gas works not to mention the every growing meet market based in Smithfield.
About the Area.
So the roots of Clerkenwell developing into a creative area were set. Now it is home to more Architect practices than anywhere in the world, a multitude of high end designer furniture outlets and some of the very best restaurants London has to offer.
About the Apartment.
This wonderful, modern style, penthouse, double height loft apartment is one of just 14 built in 2003 in this small residential development. The original name thought appropriate for the building was the White house, due to its crisp white exterior, but after so many bespoke fittings were used, the name Pietra Lara was finally settled on.
The use of this wonderful Limestone was used as flooring in the apartments. But the bespoke material do not stop just at the flooring. This apartment has full height windows, floor to ceiling pivot doors, Miele appliances, bespoke Lema wardrobes and even Lava stone flooring in the communal parts.
The apartment which is flooded with light, has a double height reception room as well as two roof terraces.
The accommodation comprises a vast 38 ft. (11 m) reception room comfortably zones with living, dining and kitchen areas, making for the most superb entertaining space. There is a guest double bedroom with built in wardrobes and family bathroom, whilst on the top floor there is a sumptuous master bedroom suite with dressing area and its own ensuite bathroom.
Pear Tree Street, is located close to the junction of Goswell Road and moments from Clerkenwell Road. Local transport links are superb with both Barbican and Farringdon Stations a short walk away offering easy and quick access to the City’s financial district as well as London’s West End.
With the opening of Cross rail now expected in 2019, Farringdon Station will offer one of the best rail links in London with direct access to four of its International Airports as well as direct links to Canary Wharf in 10 Minutes and Bond Street in Mayfair in 5 minutes.
