About the area
Designed by the renowned Architect practice Chamberlain, Powell and Bon, the Barbican, is in our opinion one of the very best examples of Brutalist Architecture that can be found in London, with a strong influence of Le Corbusier design. Grade II listed, The Barbican is still the most sought after residential development within The Corporation of London attracting all walks of life from academics, architects, fashion designers, lawyers and bankers to name but a few.
About the Apartment
Its manicured Gardens and lake bring a little bit of “Country Life” to the Centre of The City and The Barbican Centre which is part of the Global Cultural Districts Network is the largest performing Art Centre in Europe, hosting music concert, art exhibitions and film screenings.
This superb and glorious example of a Type F2A (known as a large style studio) is quietly located to the rear of the building, on the third floor of Breton House and still retains many of the wonderful Barbican features such as the kitchen designed by Brooke Marine a firm of yacht designers, bathroom and original cupboards in the studio room.
Breton House was completed in 1972 and comprises 111 apartment over eight floors. It is moments from Whitecross Street therefore a stone’s throw from Waitrose, conveniently located to Barbican Underground (Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan and Circle Lines) and will benefit from the opening of Crossrail in 2018/2109.
